Summary
Build production-quality native macOS experiences for clickclick, with ownership across application architecture, performance, and user-facing reliability.
Description
The Senior Software Engineer, macOS will design, implement, and improve native application features that help people work with AI agents on the Mac. You will build thoughtful interactions, integrate deeply with Apple platform capabilities, and contribute to the architecture of a complex production desktop app.
This role is for an engineer who ships polished Mac software, cares about quality, and can work across product surfaces, system integrations, and performance-sensitive workflows. You will collaborate with design, product, and infrastructure partners while owning meaningful pieces of the user experience from technical design through release.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain native macOS application features in Swift, SwiftUI, and AppKit.
- Own features end to end, from product and technical design through implementation, validation, and release.
- Improve application architecture, state management, window behavior, navigation, and interaction patterns for complex desktop workflows.
- Integrate platform frameworks and system capabilities in ways that feel natural, private, accessible, and reliable.
- Profile and debug performance, memory, concurrency, rendering, and UI responsiveness issues.
- Write maintainable, testable code and strengthen automated coverage for critical product flows.
- Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly with design, product, and engineering partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional experience shipping production macOS applications in Swift with SwiftUI and AppKit interoperability.
- Strong understanding of macOS application architecture, Apple platform frameworks, and native interaction conventions.
- Experience with Swift concurrency, asynchronous programming, data flow, and maintainable state management.
- Ability to debug complex UI, lifecycle, performance, and reliability issues in production applications.
- Proven track record of writing clear, testable code that other engineers can build on.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building developer tools, productivity software, collaboration products, or AI-assisted workflows.
- Familiarity with AppKit interoperability, keyboard-first workflows, accessibility, localization, or adaptive macOS layouts.
- Experience integrating local services, secure storage, notifications, background tasks, or other system-level capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to profile and improve startup, scrolling, rendering, memory, or interaction performance.
- Experience working in modular codebases with clear boundaries, dependency management, and automated testing.
Pay & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $210,000 per year, depending on experience and scope. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, company holidays, retirement plan access, equity eligibility, and equipment for productive native macOS development.
